Logos

The Strongest Families Institute logo represents the institute through all visual mediums; websites, social media, mobile applications, print ads, conference banners, program manuals, brochures/pamphlets, racks cards, and more.

The logo is comprised of two elements; the logomark and the logotype.

The logomark is a symbol representing much of the values of the SFI, specifically:

  • Family-centred
  • Caring
  • Welcoming

The symbol is created with a circle broken at three equal intervals with dots. The combination of dot with two stroked creates a visual metaphor of a head with two arms extended for a hug. The combination of the three dots with stroked established a circle of support, be it family, friends, counsellors, or any combination.

The logotype is a clean and simple representation of the name Strongest Families. Set in the typeface Source Sans, the text is set at equal font-weight giving equal emphasis to the concept of strongest as well as families.

Logo Lockups

The SFI logo comes in two layout variations, know as lockups. A lockup is an arrangement of the individual pieces of a logo, specifically the logomark and the logotype.

For SFI, we have an English-only version of the logo as well as a Bilingual version. In each of these two language variations, there are stacked lockup, horizontal lockup, and variations of the logo with and without the tagline.

Stacked Lockup

The stacked lockup is the preferred usage of the logo where possible. In the stacked lockup we have customization of the typography to allow the nesting of the double-storey lowercase ‘g’ of ‘Strongest’ and the second lowercase ‘i’ of ‘Families.’ This lockup creates a compact format of the logo; however, there will be situations that either restrict the height of the logo (forcing it to display too small) or the context simply doesn’t look right. For those cases, the horizontal lockup is preferred.

Horizontal Lockup

The horizontal lockup places Strongest Families on a single line, creating a wider and shorter logo. This lockup is preferred for cases where vertical space is limited, allowing for the logo to continue to be displayed at a legible size.

Bilingual Logo Lockups

Each lockup variation is available in bilingual format. The bilingual variation combines the English and French translations of the words with a thin stroke separator that is the same width as a stroke in the tagline, adding cohesion to the logo lockup. These variations are provided in the complete logo package download above.

Strongest Families Program Lockups

Strongest Families programs, such as Parents Empowering Kids, use a combination of the logomark symbol and the typeface Source Sans to create unique, individual logos for each program. The words ‘Strongest Families’ are presented as they are in the horizontal lockup, with the addition of the program name set in the brand gray. Optionally, a sub-program name can be added in the space typically reserved for a tagline. In the example below, we have Parents Empowering Kids and the sub-program for the early years.

Social Media, Favicons and Application Icons

For logo usage that requires a square or circular image, you may use the logomark as a standalone symbol. These variations are provided in the complete logo package download above.

As of March 2021 the largest image size required for a social media platform for a profile picture is 800px by 800px (YouTube). An image of this size should work for all other platforms, as the platform will simply compress or downscale the image as needed. Included in the logo package are colour variations of the profile image for social media use.
